The following is a guide for Windows operation screen, but the procedure is almost the same for Mac. For Mac, if you get an alert such as “Cannot open” , “Cannot open because the developer is unidentified”, or “wicreset.app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified”, hold down the “control” key and click to select “Open”.

If you get a warning from Google Chrome saying “This type of file may harm your computer” when downloading , please select “Save”.
Due to the specifications of Google Chrome, this may occur when downloading a file with the extension “exe”.

Double-click the downloaded wicrest.exe to launch it.
STEP
If the following warning message appears, select “Yes.”
If you see the message “The app you are trying to install is not a Microsoft verified app,” please refer to the following Fujitsu article to continue the installation.
Check “Create a desktop shortcut” and click “Next”.

Click “Install”.
STEP
Wait until the installation is complete.
STEP
Click “Finish”.
STEP
The software will start automatically. The following screen will appear, so please select “Close assistant forever”.
If the software does not start automatically, double-click the red WIC Reset icon on the desktop to start it. *In some cases, a different screen may appear. In that case, select “Skip this version.”
*If you have antivirus software installed, a permission screen may appear. In that case, be sure to select “Allow.”

After a while, the tool will launch. (Please wait a moment until the screen appears.)
The printer model will be displayed automatically, so select the printer you want to release the waste ink from. Click “Refresh detected printers list” to update the list.
If it does not work with a Wi-Fi connection, try connecting the printer with a USB. It may not work with a USB hub.

Click + for “Waste counters”

Click “Reset waste counters”

Enter the 15-digit or 16-digit waste ink release key provided in the email we sent you and click OK.
Please be careful not to make any typing mistakes. We recommend that you enter the information by copying and pasting. *Please wait for up to 30 seconds as the screen will not change.

The reset is complete when either of the images below is displayed. After the reset is complete, turn the printer off and then on again.
*Please make sure to turn the printer off and on at this time. If you turn off the computer only without turning the printer off and on at this point, the waste ink error may not be resolved.
*If the waste ink error does not disappear, removing and reinserting the ink cartridge may clear the error. *Even if you clear the waste ink error, another error may occur and you may not be able to operate the printer.

Thank you for your hard work. Close the software and you’re done.
In addition to clearing the error, you may need to replace the waste ink absorption pad itself. Please refer to the following article, which was verified with the EP-801A.
